Ghana is marking 62 years of nationhood today, 6 March 2019. The country gained independence from Britain on this day in 1957.
Today, for the first time in the country’s history, the national event is being held at the Aliu Mahama sports stadium in Tamale in the Northern Region.
As has been the tradition over the year, there will be a march past of schoolchildren, security services and the unions at the stadium.
President of Niger Mahamadou Issoufou is the special guest of honour.
The theme for the celebration is: “Celebrating Peace and Unity”.”
