Ghana’s COVID-19 death toll now 17

A total of 17 people are confirmed to have died from the COVID-19 pandemic in Ghana, the Ghana Health Service has said.

Meanwhile, the caseload has now jumped to 2,074 with 212 recoveries, the GHS reported on Thursday, 30 April 2020.

This means the number of confirmed cases went up by 401 in two days while the death toll inched up by one with 24 more recoveries.

Regional breakdown

Greater Accra Region – 1,795, Ashanti Region – 99, Eastern Region – 70, Central Region – 21, Oti Region – 19, Upper East Region – 19, Volta Region – 16, Northern Region – 13, Upper West Region – 10, Western Region – 9, North-East Region – 2, Western North Region – 1, Savannah Region – 0, Bono Region – 0, Ahafo Region – 0, and Bono East Region – 0.

On Tuesday, 28 April 2020, the number of confirmed cases was 1,671 from the previous 1,550.

At that time, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, said 1,461 of them were well or showing “no symptoms and responding to treatment”.
