Nana Addo has failed in his Creative Arts promise – Barima Yaw Owusu

Creative Arts Pundit, Barima Yaw Owusu has lashed out at the NPP government saying the Party has failed the Creative Arts people and that their promises are deceptive.
“It is not true that they have completed the theatre in Kumasi. That is where I grew up and there is nothing there to show” Barima Yaw Owusu stressed.
The phenomenon of political parties luring the electorates with incredible campaign promises before elections is not new to the Ghanian political terrain.
Prior to the 2016 elections, all the major political parties in Ghana made some promises which they thought, could inure to the benefit of the tourism and creative arts sector.
It is in the light of this, that the New Patriotic Party made a plethora of promises which included building a theatre in all the ten regions, as at then, in the country.
The tourism and creative arts fraternity has been hoping to see when that promise would become a reality since the party won power. There has been a bit of silence on this promise from the government of late, until the Vice President, H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia, in a recently held event by the governing New Patriotic Party, alluded to the completion of one of the theatres in Kofioridua, with the one in Kumasi also ongoing.
Speaking on Otec FM’s Showbiz Arts and Culture programme, Anokyekrom on Saturday August 29, 2020, Barima Yaw Owusu stated categorically that the News Patriotic Party has failed woefully on its promise to build theatres in all the ten regions, as at then.
The talent manager and events person opined that, the N.P.P. promised to build ten theatres, but according to the Vice President, one has been completed, with another ongoing.
“If someone promises to give ten things to you, gives one and a half of it to you, is it not 15% of 100? And is 15% not a failure?” Barima Yaw Owusu, asked. He also added that the government has achieved some feet on some other promises, such as partnering the FIPA (Film Producers Association) to secure lands for the proposed film village.
These theatres, when done, will go a long way to contribute immensely towards the development of the tourism and creative arts sector. Apart from the theatres being used for theatrical performances, movie premiering, concerts and other events could also be held in them.
The tourism and creative arts sector is still waiting for this promise to be a reality
