Health Services Workers’ Union suspend nationwide strike

Health Service Workers Union has suspended its industrial action staged over poor conditions of service.
The strike which begun on Tuesday October 26, 2021 according to the union was to protest consistent failure on successive goverments to provide them with better conditions of service.
Following the strike action, some departments in hospitals nationwide were deserted.
This left some patients stranded because of the absence of records personnel, cleaners, lab technicians, orderlies, among others.
Speaking to OTEC News Kwame Agyenim Boateng the Ashanti Regional Chairperson of Health Service Workers Union Emmanuel Osei Gyamfi said the industrial action was called off on Saturday October 30,2021 after a meeting between the leadership of the Health Service Workers Union and some government officials.
He added that Although the delands of the union are yet to be met, the leadership has called off the five-day-old strike.
Mr Osei Gyamfi further noted that their members will take back their roles at the duty posts accross the country beginning Monday November first, 2021.
He however warned that, the union will revert their recent decision if government fails to give them what they wants.
