Frankel Foundation for Diabetics screens OTEC FM Staff

Frankel Foundation for Diabetics, an NGO, has organized a free health screening for the staff of Otec FM, a private commercial radio station at Asawasi in the Asokore Mampong municipal in the Ashanti region.
The staff were screened for hypertension, diabetes, Body Mass Index (BMI) and counseling on health related issues.

The screening exercise, which was held at the premises of Otec FM on the Monday, February 14, 2022, coincided with the celebration of the Valentine’s Day.
The staff were also educated on the causes of the diseases, their control and prevention.

The Country Coordinator for Frankel Foundation for Diabetics, Sophia Oteng Mensah, in an interview with Otec news’ reporter, Rosemond Amponsah, said the exercise was to improve the health conditions of the staff.
The exercise, according to the coordinator, was also to create more awareness among the staff who might be unaware of the causes and effects of diabetes.

“Staff of this media house have tight schedules which does not allow most of them to go for medical checkups, we then thought it wise to bring the screening to their doorstep to enable them know their health status,” she stated.
She added that “the exercise was to express our appreciation and love on this special Vals Day to Otec FM, which through their health program ‘Aponden Ahotoso’ educating the masses on how to improve their living health standards.”
Oteng Mensah advised the staff to live healthy lifestyles by eating nutritious foods, regular exercising and frequenting the hospitals to check on their health status to avoid health complications.
In appreciation, the host of Otec FM’s health program ‘Aponden Ahotoso’, Mrs Kate Boamah Appiah, on behalf of the staff, thanked the organizers for the free exercise and called for more regular screenings to help them live healthy lifestyles.
