UTAG strike: Close down universities, says Africa Education Watch

The Africa Education Watch, a civil society organisation has called for the immediate closure of public universities in Ghana following the protracted strike by the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).
UTAG has been on strike over the past three weeks over what they describe as “the worsening conditions of service of the university teacher and the failure of the employer in addressing the plight of its members.”
Several attempts by the National Labour Commission and the Ministry of Education to get UTAG to resolve the impasse have proven futile.
In a statement, Africa Education Watch said the continuous stay of student on various campuses without any academic activity is taking a huge socio-economic toll on the students and their parents.
