Ahafo region: An old student of Awewoho-Manhyia JHS Mr Simon Yeboah donates 10 computers to alma mater

An old student of Awewoho Manhyia Junior High School in the Asunafo North municipal of the Ahafo region has donated 10 desk computers to the school.

Simon Yaw Yeboah, a member of the 1990 year group, made the donation, which was at a cost of GHC6, 000, on Friday, June 10, 2022.

The provision of the computers will be the first time the school will be having access to computer literacy since it was built some decades ago.

The short, but impressive presentation ceremony was attended by the chiefs and elders of Awewoho Manhyia, teaching staff and the students of the school.

Presenting the items, Simon Yaw Yeboah, who is a health worker, said the computers will serve the other 10 community schools in the Asumura enclave that have not tasted ICT before.

“During our days at the school here, we didn’t have a feel of how a computer is, so I believe that this will help the students in broadening their knowledge and to catch up with the global world,” he said.

“The computers in the school will also serve as an ICT centre for the rest of the other schools within the Asumura enclave to enhance their teaching and learning in computer basics,” he added.

The head teacher of the school, Isaac Amoah, in appreciation to the kind gesture, narrated how the schools in the enclave have not participated in any of ICT exams in the district for lack of computer knowledge.

Receiving the items, he said the computers have come at the right time when the schools are preparing for the BECE in October 2022.

He promised to take good care of the equipments and appealed to other old students, individuals and groups to assist them with internet connectivity devices to enhance their usage effectively.

The students also could not hide their joy, clapping and jumping during the presentation.
