
The Vice president of Ghana Dr Mahamadu Bawumia has cut sod for the first phase of the construction of 32 state-of-the-art Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres across the 16 regions of the country.
The event was held at Abrankese in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region on Monday June 6, 2020,

Addresing a gathering at the sod cutting ceremony , Dr Bawumia disclosed that, the move forms part of government’s efforts to advance the industrialisation agenda of the country.
He observed that the future of TVET was bright because skilled people would play a key role in the government’s agenda to industrialise and move Ghana beyond aid.

“What we are witnessing here today, forms part of a broader government plane to make Ghana’s education system become more responsive to the needs of industry”
“We are very much aware that, one of the keep pillars to government’s industrialisation agenda is to train more hulan resources with enough skill and training needed to meet demants from the industries “

He disclosed that, the government was determined to establish at least two state-of-the-art TVET centres in all 16 regions accross the country.
These centres according to Dr Bawumia will be fully equipped with machines and training tools for all levels.

For his part the minister Education Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum said the TVET Center of Exellence at Abrankese will train students at the tertialy level.
He added that the center will offer the opportunity for other institutions to laised with them and train their students and transform the face of TVET in the country.
He explained that, Government has contracted Planet One Group to undertake the ambitious project due to its rich experience of developing and executing projects across the entire continuum of education.
Dr Adutwum pledged government’s commitment to completeing the Abrankese project withing 24 months.
He added that, the construction of the TVET centres forms part of the government’s efforts to advance the industrialisation agenda of the country
Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum commended president Akuffo Addo for his vission and called on all to supprt the government to transform the country.
He however, called on young people who were into TVET to change their mindsets and build positive attitudes that would help them excel in that area.
“TVET people must change their attitude and be aware that whatever they do, they must be committed and responsive to opportunities being created by the Akuffo Addo lead administration”
