Three Opoku Ware SHS final year students arrested for robbery
Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested three students of the Opoku Ware Senior High School for an alleged robbery.
The three suspects, all final year students were arrested after trying to steal a taxi cab at knife point in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi.
The students according to report are between the ages of 17 and 19 years.
Reports gathered by OTEC News Kwame Agyenim Boateng, indicated that the suspects, on Friday August 13 2022, hired a taxi cab with registration number AS 5271-22 at Santasi Roundabout to the Golden Tulip Hotel around 11 :00 p-m.
The Toyota Vitz cab driver upong reaching Vienna City on the Adum-Ahodwo Roundabout stretch pointed a knife on the driver and asked him to stop the car and hand over the keys to them.
Reports further revealed, th suspects struggled with the driver after he refused to succumb to their demands.
The car however stumbled into a nearby heap of sand along the road after the driver lost control of the steering wheel during the struggle causing an accident.
Some residents who were present at that particular moment rushed to the scene only to discover that it was a robbery scene.
They arrested the suspects and subsequently handed them over to police for investigations.
Headmaster of the school Father Stephen Owusu Sekyere confirmed the incident to OTEC News.
He disclosed that, the suspects who are now in the grips of police were expelled from the school’s boarding facility after engaging in some social vices including thievery which goes contrary to the school’s rules.
He however assured parents that students in the school will be well protected.
