Police gun down suspected robber at Kuntenase; 3 others on the run

A suspected armed robber has been shot and killed by police at Kuntenase, in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred on late hours of Thursday June 13, 2024

The incident according to residents occurred when a group of four armed robbers mounted a blockade on the Kuntenase – Piase road and attempted to attack residents.

A victim of the robbery incident, name withheld in an interview with OTEC News Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng disclosed that, the robbers were armed with guns and machetes, and were terrorizing residents when the police were called to the scene.

“The police quickly responded to the distress call and engaged the robbers in a shootout. One of the suspects was shot and killed, while the other three managed to escape,”

Remains of the deceased suspect, who’s yet to be identified has been conveyed to the Pramso government hospital for further investigation

A reliable source at the Kuntenase police station after confirming the incident to OTEC News said the police are currently searching for the three other suspects who are on the run.

Meanwhile the Assembly Member for Kuntenase Electoral Area, Hon J. K Amankwaa said armed robbers have been terrorising residents in the past few months

The situation according to him has affected the Livelihood of residents in the area calling for a swift intervention

He has also urged anyone with information about the whereabouts of the three suspects to come forward and assist in their arrest.
