Afia Kobi Ampem SHS old students inspire final year students with career guidance forum

Old Students of the Afia Kobi Ampem Girls Senior High School have organized a career guidance forum for final year students.

 The event, organized by the 1982 year group, aimed to guide the students in selecting the right courses at the tertiary level.

The forum, held at the school’s campus on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, saw police officers, nurses, lecturers, entrepreneurs, business persons, and others taking the students through various tertiary courses and their career opportunities.

Speaking to OTEC News Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng after the event, Chairperson for the 1982 batch, Mr. Yeboah Afihene Charles, said the gesture was a way of giving back to the school.

 According to him, they are responsible individuals now because of the good training they received from the school, adding that it was not a misplaced priority giving back to the school.

Homecoming event

A leading member of the group, Madam Felicia Dapaa Agyeman, revealed that the forum was part of activities lined up by the group for their homecoming event.

 She disclosed that the week-long event began on Monday, July 1, 2024, and would end on Sunday, July 6, 2024.

The activities lined up for the event included a welcome cocktail on Monday, followed by the career guidance forum on Tuesday.

The group will visit the Manhyia Palace and Lake Bosomtwe on Wednesday. Madam Dapaa added that there will be sporting activities on July 4, with the main activity for the week, commissioning of an ultramodern basketball court for the school, on Friday.

Headmistress Appreciation

For her part, the headmistress of the school, Emelia Denutsui, expressed her gratitude to the 1982 year group for the support.

She noted that their help has improved learning outcomes in the school.

 She called on other year groups to emulate the gestures of the 1982 batch, adding that together they can make the school a great force to be reckoned with.
