Ebenage Herbal Production and Consult Launches ‘Research Awards scheme ‘ to Promote Plant Medicine Research
One of the renowned herbal medicine firms in Ghana, Ebenage Herbal Production and Consult, producers of Hepa Plus Herbal Mixture, has launched an award system to support researchers focused on protecting herbs and exploring their medicinal properties.
As Ghana’s herbal medicine industry continues to expand, the need to preserve traditional knowledge and explore the full potential of indigenous plants has become increasingly important.
According to Ebenage Herbal, launching an award system to support research in herbal medicine, will help ensure the long-term sustainability of this valuable resource, while also driving innovation and discovery in the field.
Dubbed the “Hepa Plus Research Awards” provide funding for undergraduate researchers at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
In collaboration with the Department of Herbal Medicine at KNUST, Ebenage Herbal Production and Consult will support young researchers in conducting major studies on plant medicine.
Aims of the Awards
Launching the awards Friday July 26, 2024, Founder of Ebenage Herbal Production and Consult,
Dr. Ebenezer Agyemang emphasized that the awards aim to encourage academic excellence and motivate students to engage in high quality research
“We are providing a platform of research opportunities for students to bridge the gap between traditional medicine and modern technologies”.
He noted that this move will also enhance learning experience of students and help them integrate the awards into the curriculum to enrich students’ academic and professional development
Promoting innovation Project work
Dr Ebenezer Agyemang added that, that Ebenage Herbal Production and Consult seeks to encourage innovation and excellence in Herbal Medicine Research, hence supporting the students
He added that, together with KNUST authorities, they will integrate the HEPA Plus Research Awards into the final year project works to help students expand their investigations and come out more innovative ideas to solve societal problems

According to Dr Agyemang, the awards formed part of the efforts to give back to society
“This initiative is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, aiming to promote Ghana’s herbal industry globally”.
He pledged the company’s support to the herbal medicine industry expressing his readiness to provide financial and technical support to players in the industry
Support for Students with good research Outcomes
Dr Ebenezer Agyemang disclosed that, Ebenage Herbal Production and Consult will employ students with outstanding research results and integrate them into the herbal medicine industry.
He has therefore called on the students to take their academic works serious and take advantage of the awards to secure a good future
“This demonstrates our commitment to nurturing talent and advancing the sector” He said.
He added that, the award system is expected to encourage innovative research and contribute to the growth of Ghana’s herbal industry.

The Head of Department of Herbal Medicine, Professor Isaac Kingsley Amponsah described the move as apt, calling on students to embrace the opportunity and expand thier research works
