Ghanaian scholars pursuing various programs in the United Kingdom under a government scholarship have been forced to resort to desperate measures to survive.

According to the scholars, the government’s failure to release funds to them has led to extreme hardship, with some being forced to sell their sperm to make ends meet.

The scholars, who spoke to OTEC News Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng on Monday, July 1, 2024, revealed that they have been abandoned by the government, leaving them with no option but to engage in such desperate acts.

They claimed that they have not received any financial support from the government in the last year, despite numerous promises.

The aggrieved scholars revealed that they are struggling to survive due to the lack of funds.

They claimed that they are dying out of hunger and are unable to focus on their studies.

The scholars have therefore called on the authorities to swiftly facilitate the payment of their allowances to enable them to continue their studies without any difficulties.

They also urged the government to honor its obligations and fulfill its promises to support their education.
