Kumasi High Students, Old Boys Association undertake clean up exercise at Kumasi South Hospital

Former and current students from Kumasi High School on Saturday morning visited the Kumasi South Hospital (KSH) in the Asokwa Municipality to tidy up the premises and wards.

The exercise forms part of activities lined up ahead of the school’s 60th Anniversary celebrations whose climax will be a grand durbar on the 27th July, 2024.

The students swept the compound of the hospital including the Out Patients Department (OPD), Maternity Wards, the Infectious Diseases Center and the Main car park of the hospital.

The over 200 students also desilted some gutters and cleaned the windows of the health facility located at the Agogo Community.

The students had additional brooms, cutlasses, gloves, wheel barrows, rakes and other implements from the Zoomlion Company Limited to carry out the cleanup exercise.

Headmaster:

Mr Kwaku Tawiah Twum Barimah, Headmaster of Kumasi High School said as part of the school’s 60th anniversary the planning committee decided to reach out to the health facility that caters for its students and staff.

He noted that a cleanup exercise was therefore planned to tidy up the hospital’s environment including wards.

The exercise, Mr Twum hopes would further strengthen the relationship between the school and the hospital, adding that it would not be the last one but a constant feature.

“Ahead of our upcoming 60th anniversary whose grand durbar would be on the 27th July, series of programs were line up with todays clean up exercise being the third of activities held and we are determined to use these moments to showcase the success story of Kumasi High including its prominent national figures to the world”, the Headmaster stated.

Old Boys Association Representative:

Mr Kwame Koduah Oduro (Saint), Economics Tutor, Housemaster and former Student of Kumasi High School said the Old Boys Association were happy to have the opportunity to partner with the current students to tidy up the Kumasi South Hospital.

He noted that together with the school authorities the Old Boys (Mmerante3) envisage to have a smooth and fulfilling anniversary celebrations.

Other Activities:

Other activties lined up for the 60th anniversary include a Blood Donation and Medical Screening Exercise on the 18th of July, a Jungle Drink Float on the 19th of July.

The rest are Internal Friendly Games to be held on 22nd July as well as Candle Light Procession and Jama night on the 26th of July.

The Grand Durbar and Dinner Night where dignitaries such as the President of the Republic, the Asantehene, the Education Minister and the Regional Minister as well as Mmerante3 Old Boys Association and the Global Front is slated for the 27th of July with a thanksgiving service on 28th July being the last on the list of activities for the 60th anniversary.

Appreciation:

Mr Eddie Blay, Estate Manager at Kumasi South Hospital thanked the Headmaster and the students as well as the Old Boys Association for displaying patriotic tendencies.

The clean up exercise, he noted shows the humane side of students and authorities at Kumasi High School.

“I pray other institutions, schools and other private individuals emulate this gesture and partner the hospital to have a pleasant environment all the time”, the Headmaster stressed.
