Dr. Banabas Addai Amanfo, a Senior Research Fellow at IFEST

Dr. Banabas Addai Amanfo, a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Education Studies (IFEST), has praised the government’s introduction of Gifted and Talented Education in Ghana, calling it “one of the best policies in the education sector”.

His comments come after the Minister of Education, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum, announced the government’s decision to introduce a special school for gifted and talented students.

This initiative aims to provide a tailored education program that nurtures the unique abilities and talents of these students.

Dr. Amanfo, in an interview with OTEC News Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng on Wednesday August 21,2024, said this policy recognizes the unique abilities and talents of every child and provides specialized education to help them excel.

He believes this approach will unlock the full potential of gifted and talented students, producing future leaders and innovators.

Dr. Amanfo notes that previously, these students were often overlooked or under-challenged in the education system.

The new policy addresses this by providing tailored programs, resources, and support to help them thrive.

He also highlights the benefits of this policy for Ghana’s development, saying it will drive innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth.
