MTN Ghana Marks 15 Years Of MoMo Introduction

MTN Ghana’s safest and seamless digital platform that ensures receipt of money as well as the transaction of other financial businesses popularly called MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) is 15  years this month.

In Kumasi on Wednesday, Officials of MTN Ghana marked the day with an outdoor event at the Central Business District of Adum, where customers, agents and merchants were assembled to share their experiences on the platform. 

Madam Adwoa Animah, a member of the Kejetia Yam Sellers Association said the introduction of MoMo has enabled her to keep large amounts of money on her phone for her business. 

“I now travel with peace of mind to buy the yam in good quantities from the southern sectors of Ghana because I know my money is safe on my MoMo wallet”, Madam Animah noted.

Agents:

Akwasi Addai, an MTN MoMo agent at Tanso said that by deciding to become a trader on the platform he has been able to make good money and take care of many responsibilities he had.

“By allowing me to become MTN MoMo agent, the company has helped me to take care of their numerous customers on the platform who either takes  money out or put money on same”, Mr Addai stated.

Gladys Antwi, a banker with Fidelity Bank said her outfit’s partnership with MTN Ghana  had increased patronage of Fidelity’s services.

“We’ve seen growing numbers of customers in our bank and it is due to the MoMo services we render for those who bank with us”, Mrs Antwi narrated.

General Manager:

Nii Adotey Mingle, General Manager of MTN Ghana Northern Business District commended the company’s customers for showing faith and confidence on the MoMo platform. 

He stated the company’s commitment to carry out more investments into the digital platforms especially MoMo and others.

This, he noted, is to ensure that transactions carried out on the platform become seamless and efficient for all its customers.

“MTN Ghana is committed to channeling more investments into making its digital platforms seamless and efficient so that customers could have the best of services”, Mr Mingle stressed.

MoMo Fraud:

Mr Mingle stated that the MTN MoMo platform was secure than anything. 

He noted that no one could take out money from the account of its customers without the account holders authorising or giving their pin codes out.

The General Manager also assured of continued sensitization and outreach drives to educate its customers to keep their pin numbers or codes secure.

“No fraudster can take out monies from MTN wallets or accounts when the person who holds the account as owner does not release their pin number to a second person or outsider”, the General Manager intimated.
