PUSAG Honors Ibrahim Mahama and McBrown For Philanthropic Works

The Private Universities Students Association of Ghana (PUSAG) has praised the efforts of the Education Ministry for working to resolve payment challenges it had with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) regarding monies they owed the sub-regional body.

This impasse, between the two outfits, had delayed the release of the results of senior high school students who sat for August/September West African Senior Secondary Certificate Exams (WASSCE).

On Thursday, the Ministry released an amount covering the outstanding balance that was needed for WAEC to work on the release of the results.

Speaking to the media thereafter, PUSAG President, Mr Ibrahim Issah commended the Education Minister for heeding to calls to resolve the worrying situation.

Awards:

Giving details about PUSAG’s decision to award persons who have and still continue to support the needy and underprivileged in the country including students, Mr Ibrahim said his outfit had identified two personalities to honour by next weekend.

The two personalities, he mentioned were Mr Ibrahim Mahama, Ghana’s famous transformational private citizen and businessman as well as Nana Ama McBrown, a famous actress, entertainment show host and philanthropist.

The PUSAG President said the two personalities had exemplified true humanity by supporting the needy through the offering of scholarships, the payment of medical bills and also the provision of empowerment initiatives.

“PUSAG has monitored the activities of these two personalities for over a decade now and we have decided to publicly honour them for showing the way to supporting people as well as empowering others to become impactful in the society”, Mr Ibrahim stated.

Details:

A citation honouring Mr Ibrahim Mahama read that, “as CEO of Engineers and Planners as well as owner of Dzata Cement, every effort has been made to help the needy and the vulnerable in the society”.

The statement said, “with these acts of generosity and kindness, Mr Ibrahim Mahama has risen to become a global figure and it is not surprising that many who were out of hope have had their lives changed by his philanthropic acts”.

On Nana Ama McBrown, the citation said, “through her acting roles and dexterity in hosting talk shows, many especially ladies in Ghana have grown in confidence to do what previously was something that was not dared by the female folk”.

It added that “coupled with her philanthropic gestures and support to the needy, McBrown has ensured that many who had lost hope regain same in the country”.
