Mpasatia: Two dead as galamsey pit collapses
Two illegal miners have died in a mining pit collapse at Mpasati in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region
The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 15, 2025, around 2:00 pm
The two were on their routine galamsey expedition on Tuesday afternoon when the galamsey pit which had developed some cracks accidentally slipped on Kyokose,38, and his friend yet to be identified
According to a report gathered by OTEC News, some of the illegal miners managed to escape unhurt.
Unfortunately, one of the deceased identified as Kyokose,38, died at the spot, leaving his counterpart in a critical condition but was later pronounced dead on arrival by doctors at the Toase clinic
The two victims, who have yet to be identified because they’re not natives in the area, have been deposited at the morgue
