Revocation of ‘last minutes’ appointments ‘baseless, politically motivated – Abuakwa South MP

Hon. Dr. Kinsley Agyemang, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South Constituency in the Eastern region

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South Constituency in the Eastern region, Hon. Dr. Kinsley Agyemang has described government’s decision to revoke appointments made by the previous NPP government after the December 7 polls as baseless and a politically motivated one.

President Mahama through the chief of staff Mr. Julius Debrah in a letter dated February 11 2025 ordered heads of public institutions to revoke any appointment made after 7th December 2024.

Speaking in an interview with Prince Nii Ade (Dok Cash) on Otec fm’s flagship afternoon political talkshow Dwabrem, Hon. Kinsley Agyemang stated that the decision is only a move to remove the newly recruits and make for the Mahama led NDC government roll in supporters of their party and family members.

According to the Abuakwa South MP, President Mahama was voted as president of Ghana by Ghanaians and therefore has no reason to deny them access to work in the public sector.

Mr. Agyemang suggests an audit on the new recruitment should have been done by the new government to ascertain whether the said appointments were made on merit or not if they suspect any foul.

He however called on Ghanaians to rise and speak against the move by the government as it would set a bad precedent going forward.

“Every Ghanaian must speak against this decision because not only supposed NPP members since it is not only NPP members were recruited. President Mahama promised a better Ghana for all but some of these decisions and too harsh so I ask, is this the better Ghana we are going to experience?” He quizzed.

Mr. Agyemang however urged President John Mahama and his government to take a second look at some of such decisions as it would increase unemployment rate in Ghana which is a threat to national security.
