We’ll Use Reforms To Build Stronger NPP – Justin Kodua Frimpong Assures

Justin Frimpong Kodua Esq, General Secretary of the NPP

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong has assured party faithful and sympathisers of using recommendations and proposals from the Mike Ocquaye review committee to build a stronger NPP.

Speaking on radio, the General Secretary disclosed that the party would convey a national Congress where proposals for reforms including amendments would be discussed to ensuring workable measures are adopted in the forward movement of the party.

Lawyer Kodua also stated his decision to enforce all regulations stipulated in the party’s constitution to organising internal elections and other activities to achieve credible outcomes.

“As the General Secretary of this party I am fortified to use same stringent measures and regulations in the party’s constitution just as i insisted in the previous internal elections including parliamentary and flag-bearer elections so that outcomes from the party’s elections and decisions would be acceptable by all”, Lawyer Kodua stated.

Reforms:

Mentioning some of the proposals for discussion, the General Secretary stated that reforms would commence from polling station level to the national level.

He disclosed that many prefer the enlargement of the current electoral college from polling station to national levels.

Lawyer Kodua said many agree that there should be an enlargement from the polling station which is the base of the party while others he noted suggest a capping on how many can be polling station executives.

The General Secretary also suggested the inclusion of former party workers such as former polling station, constituency, regional and national executives as well as former Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the decision making processes of the party.

Leader of NPP:

Lawyer Kodua proposed that like the African National Congress (ANC) in South Africa, the NPP should also ensure that its subsequent elected national Chairpersons at all times becomes the leader of the party when it is in government or out of same.

This, he stated would ensure the party becomes stronger at all times dictating the pace and directing affairs of its government.

Lawyer Kodua said same would apply during the party’s electioneering campaign where the Chairman of the party would play leading role with the party projecting and marketing its flag-bearer.

“We need a stronger party which will bring forth a stronger government when we win power and I believe with such in place the party would be able to guide its government’s activities and rein it in line when it is in power”, the General Secretary stressed.

Future Elections:

The General Secretary said the party would set timelines for its internal elections after going through the review committee’s report and an expected Congress subsequently.

These activities, he noted would give way for the conduct of polling station, constituency, national,  parliamentary and flag-bearer elections which will be the last to be done.

Lawyer Kodua added that he is envisaging that by July, 2026 the NPP would be ready to prosecute its electoral agenda to reclaim power in 2028.

He debunked claims that he was projecting a Bawumia comeback agenda because he has been seen travelling together with the former Vice-President.

“I am a consummate democrat and will bend no rule for anyone because I am committed to treating everyone fairly reason I am committed to using the party’s constitution as my guiding principle so that I can work in the interest of the party and not in the interest of any single individual”, the General stated.
