Seychelles and Asante Kingdom Strengthen Cultural Ties
A historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Manhyia Palace Museum in Kumasi, Ghana, and the National Institute for Culture, Heritage, and the Arts of Seychelles.
Signed on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace, the agreement aims to fortify the historical, cultural, and artistic bonds between Seychelles and the Asante Kingdom.
The MoU focuses on collaborative efforts in museum management, education, and development, paving the way for a rich cultural exchange between the two nations.
Ivor Agyemang-Duah represented the Manhyia Palace Museum, while Emmanuel D’offay, Executive Director, and Stephanie Latulipe, Event Coordinator, signed on behalf of Seychelles.
As part of this cultural exchange, the Seychelles delegation embarked on a tour of the museum, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Asante Kingdom’s heritage.
This partnership underscores the importance of preserving and promoting cultural diversity while encouraging mutual respect and cooperation between the two nations.
Emmanuel D’offay, speaking after the signings, said, “The MOU between Seychelles and Manhyia Palace Museum is a testimony to the bond that exists between the two countries, dated 7 years.”
He stated that the agreement will bridge the gap between Ghana and Seychelles, which can be nothing else but better.
“Several projects have already been discussed together, we shall collaborate to see the seeds of the seed planted today,” Emmanuel D’offay emphasized.
After the agreement, Emmanuel D’offay and Stephanie Latulipe, on behalf of Seychelles, donated books and paintings to the Manhyia Palace Museum.
The Director of Manhyia Palace Museum, Ivor Agyemang-Duah, said the MOU will enhance the cultural cooperation between Asante Kingdom and the Seychelles and “will deepen the cultural history and education between the two.”
Ivor Agyemang-Duah also donated sets of Asante’s history books to the Seychelles delegation.
