Bekwai:  Killed robbery suspects were terrorizing banks, residents, and commercial drivers – Police

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has confirmed that four armed robbery suspects were gunned down by police during a shootout.

According to ASP Piasa Darkwa, Deputy Crime Officer, the suspects had attacked a rural bank, injuring four people and making off with an undisclosed amount of money.

After the bank robbery, the suspects targeted residents, stealing phones, money, and other valuables.

They also set up a blockade between Akokeri and Anwiankwan, robbing travelers of their belongings, including computers.

Briefing the media on Monday April 14, 2025, ASP Darkwa said Intelligence gathered by the police revealed that the suspects had planned to launch another attack at Sanfo Aduam on Thursday.

When police attempted to apprehend the suspects, a gun battle ensued, resulting in the deaths of the four robbers.

ASP Darkwa disclosed that an AK-47 and a pump-action gun, along with 17 rounds of ammunition, were recovered from the scene.

He assured the public that the police will continue to conduct surveillance to prevent and apprehend armed robbers in the region [No sources needed for factual news reporting
