Kumasi High Court Dismisses NDC’s Election Petitions in Ahafo Ano North, South West, and Obuasi East constituencies

A  Kumasi High Court has dismissed a petition filed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) seeking to overturn the election results of the 2024 Parliamentary election in Ahafo Ano North, South West, and Obuasi East constituencies.

The court’s decision brings to an end the NDC’s attempt to challenge the outcome of the elections in these constituencies.

In its ruling, the court found merit in the arguments presented by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), citing legal provisions and statutes.

The NPP was represented by a team of 21 lawyers, who argued that the petitions were without merit and lacked sufficient evidence to support the NDC’s claims.

The court’s decision to dismiss the petitions as invalid has been seen as a validation of the election results and a boost to the NPP’s mandate in these constituencies.

The NPP’s legal team, led by Hon. Lawyer Clement Opoku Gyamfi, expressed satisfaction with the court’s ruling, stating that it was a testament to the strength of their case.

According to Hon. Lawyer Clement Opoku Gyamfi, the court’s ruling was based on a thorough examination of the evidence presented by both parties.

He noted that the NPP’s arguments were grounded in law and that the court had rightly dismissed the NDC’s petitions as lacking in merit.

The dismissal of the petitions marks a significant victory for the NPP in these constituencies and cements their hold on the parliamentary seats.

The NDC’s decision to challenge the election results was seen as an attempt to undermine the democratic process, but the court’s ruling has upheld the will of the people.

The NPP’s victory in the courts is expected to boost their confidence and morale as they prepare for future elections.

The party’s strong legal team has demonstrated its ability to defend the party’s interests and uphold the democratic process.
