A former Government Spokesperson under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, Palgrave Boakye Dankwah, has clarified that the party’s ongoing “Thank You Tour” is not intended to project any particular candidate.
The tour aims to show appreciation to Ghanaians for supporting the NPP in the 2024 polls.
The tour has featured prominent party members, including those who contested the flagbearership race and other executives.
However, its initial stages were marred by controversy, with many believing that the party’s flagbearer in the 2024 polls, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, was the face of the tour.
In an interview on the Kumasi-based OTEC 102.9 FM’s afternoon political show Dwabrem, Palgrave Boakye Dankwah emphasized that the tour was initiated by the party’s leadership and that no individual can claim to be its face.
He noted that the party is now led by the National Chairman, supported by his executives, and not by any former flagbearer.
Palgrave Boakye Dankwah called on the party’s leadership to ensure that all members are brought on board to present a united front ahead of the 2028 polls.
He stressed the importance of unity within the party to achieve success in future elections.
The NPP’s “Thank You Tour” has been a significant exercise for the party, allowing it to engage with supporters and stakeholders across the country.
As the party looks to the future, it remains to be seen how it will navigate internal dynamics and position itself for success in the years ahead.
