TThe Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene has dispatched a team to engage stakeholders in districts across the region ahead of the confirmation of President John Dramani Mahama’s nominees for Municipal and District Chief Executives.
The team is mandated to hold engagements with stakeholders in the various districts, including Assembly Members, to ensure the President’s nominees enjoy a smooth confirmation process.
The Asante Mampong Municipal and Atwima Mponua District Assemblies are yet to have their nominees announced following the release of the list for 41 other areas, including the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
The Minister met the appointees earlier this week and advised them to cease jubilations, instead urging them to build bridges with seemingly aggrieved individuals and focus on securing their confirmation.
He has also engaged with candidates who were unsuccessful in the nomination process, encouraging them to be patient and remain committed to the party’s cause.
There have been some fallouts among National Democratic Congress members in certain constituencies after the nominees’ list was released.
Dr. Amoakohene called on party members to support the nominees and assured them that no one would be left out.
“All the meetings we are having, the aggrieved candidates are all from the party, because it is opened to only party people. We have encouraged them that if it is a matter that you want to serve the government, or support the president, then there are other avenues to contribute that support to the president,” he stated.
