Lack of moral integrity by employees crumbling Ghanaian businesses – Dr Addai Amanfo bemoans

Dr Barnabas Addai Amanfo, senior lecturer at AMMUSTED

A lecturer at Akenten Appiah Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AMMUSTED), Dr Barnabas Addai Amanfo says lack of moral integrity in Ghana’s business has hampered its progress.

He points out that numerous public and private companies have failed as a result of unethical behavior.

According to Dr. Amanfo, the lack of honesty among employers and employees has damaged confidence, which in turn reduces investment, innovation, and overall economic growth.

Speaking on OTEC FM’S morning show duped ‘Nyanyano’ on Tuesday May 13, 2025 hosted by Kwaku Owusu Boateng, he suggested that moral themes should be incorporated into Ghana’s basic education in order to help instill moral principles in the younger generation

He emphasized that most Ghanaian businesspeople now choose to hire their offspring rather than an outsider, stating that this is a result of their lack of confidence in the people they should appoint to run their companies.

Dr. Amanfo referenced some businessmen in Ghana who have hired their children to handle their company.

“Hon Kenedy Agyapong has his son to handle his business, same as Despite among other high-class business moguls in the country,” he said.
