Asantehene Arrives in Asante Mampong for Final Burial Rites of Late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has arrived in Asante Mampong to oversee the final burial rites of the late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, Paramount Chief of the Asante Mampong Traditional Council.

The Overlord of the Asante Kingdom arrived riding in a palanquin, accompanied by hundreds of followers.

As the Warlord and Second-in-Command to the Asantehene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II’s passing necessitates Otumfuo’s presence at the burial rites.

After inspecting the mortal remains of the late chief, the Asantehene will sit in state for sympathizers to pay homage.

According to the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Ejurahene Barimah Osei Hwedie II, cultural rituals will be conducted following the Asantehene’s arrival, paving the way for the final burial of the late renowned chief.

“As customs demand, the Mampong Traditional Council will stick strictly to the customs as directed by the Asantehene to ensure the event is a successful one,” he noted.

The late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II is expected to be laid to rest by the end of Monday, marking the culmination of a four-day event that began on Friday, June 6, 2025.

The Asantehene’s presence underscores the significance of the occasion and the respect accorded to the late chief.
