Ashanti Region: Police bust robbery gang, one suspect killed in shootout

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has successfully arrested several suspects involved in a series of violent residential robberies across the region.
The operation, conducted on June 27, 2025, resulted in the arrest of multiple suspects, including Kwadwo Kyei Baffour, Joseph Oppong, and Bernard Owusu Ansah, among others.
Items retrieved from the suspects include laptops, mobile phones, wristwatches, and firearms.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe during a press conference on MondayJune 30, 2025 said One suspect, who sustained gunshot wounds during the arrest, has been pronounced dead at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Another suspect, Yahaya Nuhu, remains at large and is being actively pursued by the police.
The suspects are currently in custody and will be arraigned before court soon.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command commends the public’s cooperation and assures that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspect.
According to investigations, the suspects used pump-action guns, pistols, and other offensive weapons to break into homes, holding victims and their families hostage.
Some of the suspects have confessed to participating in the robberies, with one admitting to committing a rape during one of the operations.
The Police Command encourages all citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
With the suspects in custody, residents can now feel safer, knowing that the authorities are committed to ensuring peace, safety, and justice across the region.
