“I am happy to see you well and healthy” – Otumfuo to VP Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has welcomed Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang with warm words and blessings, following her return to public duties after a period of medical absence.
Speaking at the 58th Congregation of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi on Friday, the Monarch expressed delight at the Vice President’s appearance, describing it as a moment of joy for the entire gathering.
“I extend my warmest welcome to our dear Vice President. We are happy to see and welcome you to today’s graduation ceremony. I am personally happy to see you well and healthy, and we pray for God’s abundant grace and long life for you,” Otumfuo said during his address monitored by Asaase News.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang had taken time off official duties in March 2025 to seek medical treatment abroad. She returned in late May and has since resumed her role in government.
Her participation in the KNUST graduation ceremony marked one of her first high-profile public engagements since her recovery.
The King of Eswatini, His Majesty Mswati III was also present at the event, climaxing his five-day visit to Ghana.
A total of 8,161 students graduated during the 58th Congregation of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Out of the total, 3,196 were undergraduate students, while 4,965 earned postgraduate degrees.
Saturday’s ceremony alone saw the graduation of 600 postgraduate students.
