Mamponghene’s Burial: Dr Bawumia, Bryan Acheampong, NPP stalwarts storm Asante Mampong

Some stalwarts from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) including former president Dr Mahamadu Bawumia and Former Agric Minister Bryal Acheampong paid a visit to the Asante Mampong Traditional Council to mourn the late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.

The delegation was led by Former Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia where the NPP  members stormed Asante Mampong to symphatie with the traditional council

Other notable individuals who joined the delegation included the MP for Nsuta Kwaman Beposo, Hon. Adelaide Yaa Agyeiwaa, Kumawu MP Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, Chairman for the NPP in the Ashanti Region, Bernard Antwi Bosiako, and former Information Minister, Hon. Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah, among others.

The NPP members received a heroes’ welcome when they joined the Mampong Traditional Council to mark the “Dotiyie” of the late Occupant of the Silver Stool.

 The event is a cultural activity marked to bury renowned chiefs and queens in the Asante Kingdom, where some rituals are conducted before the final burial.

The activities, which started on Friday, June 6, are earmarked to end on Monday, June 9, 2025, after the final burial.

The “Dotiyie” is a significant cultural event in the Asante Kingdom, and the NPP delegation’s presence underscored their respect for the traditional institution.

The Chairman of the Planning Committee for the event, Ejurahene Barimah Osei Hwedie II, commended the members and all individuals who have so far joined the event.

He expressed gratitude for the support and solidarity shown by the NPP delegation and other well-wishers.

The late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II was a respected traditional leader, and his passing has been mourned by many in the Asante Kingdom.

The NPP delegation’s visit to the Asante Mampong Traditional Council is a testament to the party’s commitment to building strong relationships with traditional leaders.

The event is being conducted in accordance with Asante traditions and customs, and the final burial rituals are expected to take place on Monday, June 9, 2025.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is expected to join the Mampong Traditional Council for the final burial rituals.

The NPP delegation’s presence at the “Dotiyie” ceremony is a demonstration of their respect for the traditional institution and their commitment to building strong relationships with the people of Asante.

 The event has brought together people from all walks of life to pay their last respects to the late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.
