He said the skills they displayed were beyond basic repairs with some showing the ability to assemble mobile phones.

In a chat with the media, Mr Akoto said mobile phone repair was a lifelong trade and urged the trainees to take their new skills seriously, as it could be a reliable source of livelihood.

“I encouraged the trainees to continue to upgrade their knowledge, especially at a time when formal employment opportunities are declining due to advancements in artificial intelligence”, Mr Akoto noted.

Demonstration:

Some of the trainees demonstrated  how to repair problematic phones including those that had fallen into water.

Trainer:

Excited with the outcome, the trainer for the program, Abdul Awudu expressed hope that the trainees would use the skills to better themselves.

He also wished that they pass on the knowledge they had gained to others in their communities.

“The three-week program was equivalent to a year’s worth of training and I applaud MTN for their support and encouragement but i pray that the company would expand the initiative to benefit more youth in the years ahead”, Mr Awudu appealed.

Corporate Services Advisor:

In her remarks, Mrs. Charity Darko, Corporate Services Advisor for the Northern Business Sector of MTN,  congratulated both the trainees and the trainer.

Mrs Darko, asked the beneficiaries to hold on to the training they had received by upgrading their knowledge anytime they got the opportunity to do so.
