The 1995 year batch of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Basic has renovated and commissioned an ultra-modern sickbay for their Alma mater.

As part of their 30-year anniversary celebration, they’ve renovated and commissioned an ultra-modern sickbay for the school.

The new sickbay is fully equipped with new beds for comfortable patient care, stethoscopes and other essential medical equipment, modern furniture for a welcoming and efficient environment, and wheelchairs for easy mobility on Friday June 27, 2025.

According to Mr. Yaw Asante, President of the 1995 batch, the old sickbay was in a deplorable state and couldn’t function effectively.

The group decided to take matters into their own hands and renovate the facility to modern standards.

This initiative will provide students with access to quality healthcare and first aid treatment, contributing to a more comfortable and supportive learning environment.

Mr. Asante explained that the school couldn’t rely solely on the government for help, so they decided to take initiative and support their alma mater.

“We decided to help our own alma mater because we know the importance of having a well-equipped sickbay,” he said.

In addition to the sickbay renovation, the ‘95 batch also organized health screening for members of Staff and all workers of the school.

On the other hand, the Board Chair of KNUST Basic, Professor Rosemond Boateng Coffie expressed gratitude to the ’95 batch for their kind gesture.

She also appealed to other batches and individuals to emulate this example and support the renovation of the school’s old washrooms.
