People were paying as much as $10,000 in bribes for scholarship slots – Kwaku Asafo Agyei alleges

The Registrar of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, Alexander Kwaku Asafo Agyei, has revealed a shocking truth about the scholarship system in Ghana.
According to him, some individuals were paying as much as $10,000 for foreign scholarship slots, highlighting a deep-seated issue of bribery and corruption.
Speaking on Kumasi-based OTEC 102.9 FM’s morning show Nyansapo, Mr. Asafo Agyei described securing scholarships with bribes in Ghana as a “social cancer” that he intends to eradicate.
He made a startling revelation that some high-profile individuals, including members of Parliament, have been involved in paying bribes to secure scholarship packages for their relatives.
The Registrar cautioned the public against paying bribes for scholarship slots, emphasizing that the Secretariat has teamed up with state security agencies to arrest and prosecute individuals taking bribes.
