8 dead, 5 injured in gory accident on Cape Coast-Accra Highway

A devastating accident on the Cape Coast-Accra Highway at Kromantse has claimed the lives of eight people.

Five others have been rushed to the Saltpond Government hospital with severe injuries.

The victims were confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred when a Mercedes Benz (AS 4146-25) collided with a Hino truck (GW 5958-25).

Fire officers worked tirelessly to rescue those trapped in the mangled vehicles.

Deputy Public Relations Officer for the Central Regional Fire Command, ADO 1 Ebenezer Fiifi Dadzie,in an interview with OTEC News Reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng revealed that the Mankessim Fire Rescue Team responded promptly to the scene.

He noted Firefighters extricated two trapped individuals suspected to be dead, while five people, including a child and the truck driver, sustained injuries.

The road has been cleared and reopened to traffic with support from stakeholders.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
