Asantehemaa’s Burial: Come out on Thursday night if you say you’re a man – Manhyia Brafoɔ

The chief executioner at the Manhyia Palace (Manhyia Brafoɔ) has issued a strong warning to residents of Kumasi ahead of the burial of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

Speaking during the procession on the second day of the funeral rites, Tuesday, September 16, 2025, the Manhyia Brafoɔ reiterated a warning against nighttime movement on Thursday, September 18, 2025, the day the late Asantehemaa would be buried.

The executioner said that any person who flouts the curfew on Thursday night would have himself or herself to blame.
“I’m saying that on Thursday (evening), if you say Asanteman belongs to you, step out and let’s see. I will show you that Asanteman has a lord.
“Those of you who have no respect and are saying Asanteman belongs to you, come out and let’s see,” he said in the Twi dialect.
“We are not joking. We’re not bragging. It is an order. We are saying that on Thursday, stay indoors. If you say you are a man, get out and let us see,” he added.
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II announced the death of the Asantehemaa on August 11, 2025.
