Kofi Akpaloo released from EOCO custody

The founder and leader of Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) Percival Kofi Akpaloo has been released after days in Ghana’s EOCO custody.

Mr. Akpaloo, who was arrested on September 3, has been released on Thursday, September 11, spending approximately a week in the Economic and Organized Crime Office after meeting a ¢10 million bail conditions set by the Security Agency.

A video circulating online saw the very moment Mr. walker out from the EOCO’s office while receiving and sharing pleasantries with and from loved ones.

After his release, Akpaloo linked his detention to politics, describing the arrest as a reciprocation of his ‘criticisms’ against the government.

“They say they are embarking on an investigation. But if you may know, it’s all politics. The things I said the last time are what have informed this arrest against”, he told press men.

The outspoken politician was arrested at dawn in his residence in Kumasi by the EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit.
