A/R: Weak Structure Causes Building Collapse at Anwiafutu, Three left Injured

A family of three has sustained various degrees of injuries after a residential building collapsed at Anwiafutu in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

The collapse occurred as the entire family of three were all indoors

The incident, which occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, left 35-year-old man Kidikpa Kpe with waist injuries, while his wife, Mary Mako, 40, suffered injuries to her leg and waist.

Their 11-year-old daughter, Selina Tetteh, reportedly sustained a serious head injury.

Officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) at the Atwima Mponua District Assembly, who visited the scene, confirmed that the collapse was caused by the weak structure of the building.

District NADMO officers have since assessed the situation and advised residents living in old or visibly weak structures to relocate to safer places to avoid similar tragedies.

The victims are currently receiving medical treatment, while the collapsed building has been cordoned off to prevent further danger.
