Manso Nkwanta Traditional Council urges residents to cease attacks on Asanko Mines

The Paramount Chief of Manso Nkwanta Traditional Area, Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah II, has called on residents to cease all forms of attacks on Asanko Gold Mines, emphasizing the need for accelerated development in the area.

Speaking at the commissioning of a Multipurpose Community Center at Manso Nkran in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region,on Tuesday October 14, 2025, Nana Appiah II urged residents to use dialogue to settle misunderstandings instead of resorting to violence.

“I condemn recent violent attacks between some residents and Asanko Mines, as such situations are a recipe for disaster,” he stated.

“As the head of the traditional council, my doors are open for all, and you are all my children,If there are any forms of misunderstanding, call on me, and I will ensure an amicable resolution.”
The Paramount Chief emphasized that the presence of Asanko Gold Mines in the area would not only provide jobs for the youth but also contribute to community development.
He noted that fighting with the mines instead of collaborating with them defeats the whole idea of hosting them.
Project Highlights
The Multipurpose Community Center was constructed at a cost of over GH¢ 2.3million as part of Asanko Gold’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The project aims to provide a central hub for community gatherings, capacity-building programs, and cultural exchange.

Dr. Charles Amoah, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd., reiterated the company’s commitment to implementing and sustaining the SRF Foundation Fund for community development.
“Asanko remains committed to fully implement and sustain the SRF Foundation Fund, and we look forward to continuing this collaboration with all stakeholders,” he stated.
Dr. Amoah also urged the host communities to use dialogue and peaceful engagement, emphasizing that violence only undermines progress.
