Baffoe-Bonnie: I’ll uphold rule of law, respect separation of powers

The newly sworn-in Chief Justice of Ghana, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has vowed to uphold the rule of law and respect the separation of powers in his new role.
Speaking during his swearing-in ceremony on Monday, November 17, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie said he would protect the Constitution and safeguard judicial independence.
He added that he would respect the independence of every judge, ensure the judiciary remains free from undue influence, and maintain a strong focus on accountability.
The Chief Justice promised, “Mr. President, in accepting this office, I give my solemn word that I will uphold the rule of law. Respect the separation of powers and protect the Constitution. I will respect the independence of every judge and ensure that the judiciary remains free from improper influence. I will also insist on accountability.”
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie now assumes full responsibility as Chief Justice, tasked with leading Ghana’s judiciary and preserving the integrity of the judicial system.
