Daddy Lumba’s Funeral: Family Appears before Otumfuo Saamanhene over Otumfuo Ntamkesie Mmiensa

The family of the late music icon Daddy Lumba made their first appearance at the Manhyia Palace on Monday, November 3, 2025, following a dispute over the funeral arrangements.
The dispute began when Akosua Brempomaa, sister to the deceased, invoked the Sacred Oath to halt the funeral, demanding a thorough investigation into the cause of her brother’s death.
The matter was brought before the Asantehene, Saamanhene, and their elders in a closed-door meeting.
This comes after Akosua Bempoma invoked the Sacred Oath demaming a thorough investigation into what killed her brother
While the family head, Kofi Owusu , declined to speak to the media, Akosua Brempomaa sister to the late icon said the chiefs had asked the family to resolve the issue amicably and report back with the outcome.
“We have been asked by the chiefs to resolve the problem in a civil way and bring the outcome next Friday,” Akosua Brempomaa stated.
“We are all open for dialogue, so we will meet at home and see what the outcome will bring.”
According to a source at the meeting, the processes for the Otumfuo Ntamkese will be determined on Friday.
Per Asante customs, the funeral will remain on hold pending the final determination of the Sacred Oath, with the Manhyia Palace ultimately deciding the outcome.
The matter will be revisited on Friday for a concrete decision.
