Nana Addai Gyamerah, the Feyiase Hene, has described former Minister of Education and aspiring NPP flagbearer, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum’s investment in young people, as the most effective strategy to combat galamsey and environmental degradation in Ghana.
Speaking during a Thanksgiving Service presented by the YOA Foundation for over 90 graduates, held at Joint-Heirs Ministry, Feyiase, opposite the Jusbro Filling Station, Nana Gyamerah said the menace of illegal mining stems from a lack of skills and limited opportunities for youth, pushing many into activities that destroy the land.
“I am thrilled that this huge investment in engineering and medicine should have been what the nation prioritizes if we are serious about ending environmental degradation,” he said.
He praised Dr. Adutwum’s vision for equipping young people with high-level technical skills, noting that such initiatives provide the pathway for proper skill development and sustainable transformation in communities.
Speaking on behalf of other traditional rulers present at the service, Nana Gyamerah emphasized that initiatives like this mark a significant journey in preparing constituents for the 21st century, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to national development.
The Thanksgiving Service celebrated the achievements of the YOA Foundation graduates, highlighting Dr. Adutwum’s commitment to human capital development as a tool for social and environmental change.
