Four arrested at Nyinahin with locally made pistol

Police at Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region have arrested four young men after a routine dawn patrol led to the discovery of a locally manufactured pistol and other offensive weapons concealed in a sack.

The suspects — Iddrisu Abubakar, 22; Fuseni Adam, 25; Yakubu Ishmeal, 18; and Hakim Abubakar, 16, all natives of Tamale — were picked up at about 5:27 a.m. on December 9, 2025.

According to police sources, the officers were on patrols around Antwi Adjei at about 3:00 a.m. when they intercepted a Sprinter bus.

A search revealed a sack belonging to the four suspects containing one locally manufactured pistol, two cartridges, two cutlasses, and quantities of talismans.

Police say preliminary assessments suggest the suspects may be connected to a series of armed robbery incidents recorded within the Nkawie enclave.

The four are currently in custody at the Nyinahin Police Station, and arrangements are underway to transfer them to the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit in Kumasi for further investigations.
