The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Elections Committee, Joseph Osei Owusu, has cautioned party executives and officials against interfering with the Electoral Commission’s (EC) work in the upcoming presidential elections.
He emphasized that the EC has been mandated to handle the elections, and party members should not attempt to influence their decisions.
Speaking on OTEC FM’s Dwabrem show,on Monday, Osei Owusu stressed that all issues related to the polls are the responsibility of the EC, and neither he nor any other party official has the authority to instruct the EC.
“Any issues relating to the poll has been handed over to the EC, not even the elections committee chairman has the right to order the EC around,” he stated.
He also noted that security arrangements are the responsibility of the Ghana Police Service, and private security officials will not be involved.
Osei Owusu expressed confidence that all arrangements have been made for the election to proceed smoothly and successfully, without chaos.
The NPP Elections Committee Chairman’s warning comes as the party prepares for its presidential primaries, and he urged party members to cooperate with the EC and security agencies to ensure a peaceful process.
