Parliament to resume on February 3

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has issued a Constitutional Instrument to commence the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

In accordance with the powers vested in him by Article 112(1) of the 1992 Constitution, the Speaker has appointed Tuesday, 3rd February, 2026, at 12:00 noon, as the date and time for the session to begin.

The session will be held at Parliament House in Accra.

The official instrument, dated 19th January 2026 and signed by the Speaker, directs all Members of Parliament (MPs) to reconvene at the appointed time to resume the nation’s legislative business.

The commencement of the Second Session marks a critical phase in the parliamentary calendar, where government business, including the consideration of bills, approvals, and oversight of the executive, will resume in earnest.

The session is expected to address key legislative agendas and pending matters from the previous session.

All MPs are expected to be present as the House returns from its recess to continue its constitutional duties.
