Trailer runs over okada rider in Suame killing him on spot
A trailer full of soya beans has run over an okada rider believed to be 27 years old, killing him on the spot at Suame Maakro in the Ashanti Region.
The deceased, yet to be identified, had his body mutilated by the vehicle in the gory accident.
The sad incident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, December 3, 2026, leaving residents in shock.
According to an eyewitness, the trailer with registration GT-1963-13 run over the man after a hook on the vehicle trapped the okada rider who was driving beside the long vehicle, leaving him under the truck.
Some residents in an interview with OTEC News said they have recorded dozens of accidents at the area, attributing it to the ongoing construction works on the road.
“This is not the first time, we have seen dozens of accidents here but this time round we are not lucky, a soul is gone.
The ongoing construction work has rendered the road very difficult to ply, causing accidents, we hope they complete the work soon to avoid these accidents.”
Meanwhile, police at the area reported to the scene, conveying the body to a morgue for identification.
