Teachers, parents demands dismissal of Anloga District education director over alleged mismanagement

The parent and teacher association PTA in the Anloga district of the Volta region is demanding the immediate removal of the district education director Dominic Dzenado over alleged mismanagement and teacher bullying.

They described his actions as poor leadership and administrative failures.

In a peaceful demonstration through the principal street of Anloga, the concerned Parents and teachers were in red attires holding placards and we’re singing war songs to express their grievances.

The representatives of teacher groups and Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) accused the district director of mismanaging educational affairs and failing to address persistent challenges affecting schools in the area.

They cited concerns including delays in the release of teaching and learning materials, inadequate supervision of schools, and what they described as a lack of transparency in administrative decisions.

Some teachers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, claimed that repeated petitions to higher authorities yielded little response, prompting them to escalate their concerns through a peaceful demonstration.

According to them, the zeal among staff has declined, with some schools struggling to meet academic targets due to what they described as weak coordination at the district level.

Parents also expressed frustration over what they say is a decline in academic performance in some public basic schools within the district. They argue that leadership at the district education office must be strengthened to restore confidence and improve outcomes for students.

“We want accountability and effective leadership. Our children’s education cannot suffer because of administrative lapses,”

The situation has sparked discussions among education stakeholders in the district, with some calling for an independent investigation to access the claims and determine the way forward.

Observers say the outcome of the matter will be closely watched, as it reflects broader concerns about governance and accountability within local education administration structures.

For now, teachers and parents insist they will continue to press their demands until what they describe as meaningful action is taken to address their concerns.

The Following are the demands from the parents and teachers association:

1. Immediate sacking of the Anloga District Director.

2. An independent investigation into alleged mismanagement and abuse.

3. Justice and restitution for affected learners and teachers.

4. Protection for whistle-blowers and vulnerable staff.

5. Enforcement of the Teachers’ Code of Conduct and educational regulations.

The petitioners emphasized that urgent intervention by the President is required to restore transparency, accountability, and fairness in Anloga District’s basic education system.

Meanwhile, the district chief executive Madam Sandrah Seyram Kpedor after receiving their petition thanked them for their concern for quality education and love for the development of the district.

She assured that, their concerns will be channeled to the president and the education minister for the necessary actions to be taken.

The district chief executive reaffirmed government’s and district assembly’s commitment to ensuring quality education. Adding that, she will do everything possible to ensure the development of the area.

In response to the allegations, officials at the district education office are yet to issue a detailed public statement.

However, sources within the Ghana Education Service indicate that the matter has been brought to the attention of regional authorities for review.
