Manchester City lift the League Cup after beating Arsenal

Manchester City defeated Arsenal 2-0 at Wembley to secure the Carabao Cup, with goals in the second half proving decisive.

The match began with an early scare for City as Arsenal created a clear opportunity, but goalkeeper James Trafford produced a stunning triple save to deny the opener and keep his side level. The first half remained tight overall, with both teams attempting to build attacks without creating many clear-cut chances.

The second half, however, opened at a much higher tempo. Around the 50th minute, Arsenal goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga rushed out of his area and appeared to risk a sending-off after a challenge on Jeremy Doku. The referee, however, deemed it only worthy of a yellow card.

City eventually capitalised on a mistake just after the hour mark when Kepa failed to secure the ball cleanly, allowing Nico O’Reilly to open the scoring. O’Reilly struck again four minutes later, doubling City’s lead after converting a cross from Matheus Nunes inside the Arsenal penalty area.

Arsenal were unable to respond as City controlled the remainder of the match, seeing out a 2-0 victory. The result handed Pep Guardiola his first trophy of the season.
