Kumasi: 45-year-old arrested in Pankrono drug crackdown

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Foster Owusu, popularly known as “Master Pee,” for allegedly possessing substances suspected to be narcotic drugs at Pankrono.

According to a police statement issued on Wednesday, April 8, the arrest followed a targeted intelligence-led operation by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU) on April 5, 2026.
“Acting on credible intelligence, our team carried out a raid in Pankrono and surrounding areas to clamp down on illegal drug activities,” the statement said.
The suspect, a driver and resident of the area, reportedly attempted to flee after spotting police officers.
“He was seen locking up a single-room facility and tried to escape upon noticing police presence but was swiftly apprehended,” police noted.
A search conducted at the premises uncovered 39 compressed parcels of dried leaves concealed in a “Ghana Must Go” bag, along with 10 additional parcels found in a black sack.
Police indicated that “the substances are suspected to be narcotic drugs and have been secured as exhibits.”
However, in his cautioned statement, Owusu denied ownership of the items.
“The suspect claimed the room belongs to his girlfriend, Anita, and another woman, Cindy, insisting he had only visited the premises,” the statement added.
Authorities confirmed that the exhibits have been properly handled.
“The retrieved exhibits were sealed and labelled in the presence of the suspect and an independent witness,” police said, adding that “they will be forwarded to the Police Forensic Science Laboratory in Accra for examination.”
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue, while efforts are underway to locate the other individuals mentioned.
The Police Command reiterated its resolve to fight drug-related crimes.
“We remain committed to intensifying operations against illicit drug activities and urge the public to provide credible information,” the statement emphasized.
