Amansie Rural Bank PLC has officially changed its name to Amansie Community Bank PLC, in compliance with new regulatory directives issued by the Bank of Ghana (BoG) under the revised Microfinance Sector Framework.

The change has been duly registered with the Office of the Registrar of Companies and the Bank of Ghana, marking a new chapter for the financial institution headquartered at Antoakrom in Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region.

The transition forms part of broader reforms introduced under the Banks and Specialized Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016, and the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Act, 2008.
Under the new framework, Community Banks will function as licensed deposit-taking institutions aimed at integrating both rural and urban communities into Ghana’s financial ecosystem, replacing the previous Tier 1 to Tier 4 structure.
The announcement was made during a brief ceremony held at the bank’s OWASS branch in Kumasi on Monday, June 1, 2026.
The event brought together members of the board, management, shareholders, and staff to formally unveil the new identity, which had earlier received shareholder approval.
Addressing participants, Board Chairman Ben Kwakye-Adeefe said the transformation was primarily a rebranding exercise and would not affect the services currently enjoyed by customers.
“This transformation is just a change of name. It is not going to affect our existing services to customers as a bank,” he stated.
He explained that many people had wrongly perceived the institution as serving only rural communities because of its former name.
According to him, the new identity better reflects the bank’s broader vision and operational scope.
“The transformation into the community banking industry will enable us to associate the name to all corners and enclaves without borders,” Mr. Kwakye-Adeefe said.
He added that the change would strengthen the bank’s leadership structure, enhance accountability and professionalism, and position the institution for sustained growth and success.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Amansie Community Bank PLC, Frederick Kwakye Kyei, assured customers that the bank would continue to deliver efficient and professional services.
“Our customers should be assured of continued proficient and effective services. The change in name does not alter our commitment to serving them with excellence,” he said.
Mr. Kyei further noted that the transition would create opportunities for the bank to expand beyond its traditional operational area.
“This transformation will enable us to broaden our tentacles from operating within the Ashanti region alone to other regions,” he stated.
He expressed confidence that the new community banking model would support the institution’s long-term expansion agenda.
