NAPO accepts election outcome with humility; urges party to reflect and bounce back
In a statement, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the just-ended general elections, has accepted the outcome of the polls.
The 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections resulted in a victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which was not the outcome the NPP had anticipated.
However, Dr. Prempeh emphasized that the NPP respects the verdict of the Ghanaian people.
“To Ghanaians, we have heard you clearly, and with humility, we accept. We will work with you to get it right,” he stated.
Dr. Prempeh expressed his gratitude to the Lord Almighty for the opportunity to serve his party and Ghana.
He also acknowledged the overwhelming support he received from party faithfuls, his team, family, friends, and others.
The former Minister of Education and Energy revealed that he has had extensive discussions with the NPP’s flag bearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to reflect on the outcome of the elections.
He emphasized that the party will reflect further on the causes of their 2024 election loss and emerge stronger.
Dr. Prempeh believes in the NPP’s values, ideals, and traditions.
As the party goes into a period of honest introspection and reflection on the electoral verdict, he is confident that they will bounce back to win the trust, confidence, support, and affection of Ghanaians.
Dr. Prempeh urged Ghanaians to remain resilient and strong, saying, “May God bless Ghana and the NPP, and make us all resilient and strong.
Reflecting on the election loss, he revealed that discussions have already begun within the party to analyze the results and identify areas for improvement.
“I am grateful to the Lord Almighty, the giver of life, for bringing me this far and for the honour of this opportunity given me to serve my Party and Ghana.
“I have had extensive discussions with our flag bearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to reflect on the outcome of the elections and, in good time, we shall reflect further as a political party on the causes of our 2024 election loss.”
